I love you Zumante. you are the best brother I could ever have in my life.

Today was Field Day. I remember field day last year. We took so many pictures.  Papa kept telling you to go get another friend to take a picture with. The friends never stopped coming. Everyone was your friend. I look at those pictures now and realize that you and your grandfather TT Lewis were very much alike when it came to friends. People from all walks of life could relate to you because your heart was big enough to love everyone. And I know in my heart that you are still watching out for us.

It's mid-January and all the commercials for Black History Month are coming on now. I remember last year that I scanned through them to make sure I taped the ones you would like. We'd watch them together. Then we would talk about all the injustices that were done and the lessons learned.  You were always excited to tell me what you learned in school during Black History Month.  I'm going to tape the shows this year too. Oh how I wish you were here to watch them with me!

You made me laugh so many times. I remember once when I was taking you and Shani to Karate. I had the radio in the car on. I have one of those radios that has a screen saver like the ones on the computers except that it's in black and white. The screen saver came on and the black and white fish were swimming across the screen. Shani pointed to the screen, and excitedly said "Mante! Look!" Your little head popped up over the back seat and you stared at the screen for a while. Then you said, "We have that movie at home. It's boring!"  Even thinking about it now makes me smile. I hope that you are smiling too!

I remember Christmases past. That first year, you sat in a box with a Santa hat on your head and the box was still wrapped in pretty Christmas paper. I don't know what happened to the actual picture, but there is one in my heart.
